Building More Than Projects
For generations, IHC has been committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Our involvement extends beyond financial support to include employee volunteerism, mentorship, sponsorships, and hands-on contributions.
Over the years, IHC has supported organizations and programs such as the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin, Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area, AID, United Way of Elgin, and the A.C.E. Mentor Program. We have also put our construction expertise to work in the community, including constructing and sponsoring a canopy addition for the Jayne Shover Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.
For IHC, building stronger communities has always been an important part of building for the future.
Last month, IHC had the privilege of celebrating Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area’s 95th Anniversary — a beautiful evening honoring 95 years of service and impact in our community.
IHC was incredibly honored to receive FSA’s Community Service Award, recognizing our longstanding partnership and commitment to the children and families they serve. Through this partnership, IHC has helped sustain FSA’s Flex Funds, providing families with access to critical resources to meet their needs during some of their most challenging times.
Each year, IHC has the honor of throwing an Annual Day of Caring for the Association of Individual Development in which employees gather and serve the people of the AID. New fun themes are selected each yar, coming this year…. AID Present “A Night at the Movie” Where Everyone is a Star!
13th Annual IHC Tee It Up Golf Outing and Fundraiser. All proceeds raised are donated to the Association for Individual Development (AID) and Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area (FSA) to help the individuals and families that they serve. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our golfers, sponsors, and supporters, this year’s outing raised $17, 705.47.
This summer IHC had the opportunity along with DeKalb Mechanical, Inc. to open doors for the next generation of tradespeople. Through the Heavy Metal Summer Experience, high school students passionate about building their future in the trades are getting hands-on exposure to plumbing, electrical systems, piping, sheet metal fabrication, and welding — all part of a national initiative to connect young people with skilled trade careers. Most recently, we welcomed the group to an on-site scavenger hunt at IHC’s DeKalb Park District Hopkins Pool Project. Students split into teams to explore the jobsite, and our very own Senior Project Manager, Jim, took the time to walk them through the project and share his expertise firsthand.
IHC and the employees that work here have a long and proud history of giving back to our community. In 2020, IHC made some changes to our giving strategy and launched our very own annual Have a Heart Giving Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise funds to provide support for local non-profits whose mission and efforts we believe in, who are making a strong local impact, and whose boards we often serve on. This year IHC had a record year of giving!
